Crowns & Bridges

Although it is a common dental procedure, placing dental crowns and bridges still triggers curiosity in a vast majority of patients. At Mt. View Family Dental our team of dental professionals spends considerable time with patients explaining procedures such as placing crowns and bridges to alleviate any concerns. Dental crowns and bridges represent a fixed prosthetic that we attach to existing teeth or implants.

Also referred to as caps, crowns cover a damaged tooth or implant. Bridges cover a larger space for patients missing one or more teeth. By using a dental bonding agent, we ensure that a crown or a bridge remains fixed in your mouth for years to come. We can even get this done in one visit with our state-of-the-art PlanScan®.

Root Canal Treatment

A root canal represents a medical procedure to repair a badly damaged tooth. The term “root canal” refers to the natural forming cavity located in the center of each tooth. Teeth nerves, which are vital for sensing the temperature of food and beverages, wind around within the root canal. Sometimes, our team has to take measures to prevent the decayed section of a tooth or teeth from becoming infected. During a root canal we remove the infected pulp and nerves, and then clean the area before adding a crown to prevent tooth exposure to bacteria. You might need a simple root canal or the damaged tooth is in such poor condition that we recommend a root canal and crown. After a root canal your tooth will become weak and brittle. Therefore, adding a crown to a root canal treated tooth is necessary to prevent fracturing and possible loss of the entire tooth.

Extractions

According to the American Dental Association, an extraction involves removing a tooth because of trauma, decay, gum disease, or the overcrowding of teeth at the top and or bottom section of the mouth. The general procedure for removing a permanent tooth involves numbing the area where the damaged tooth is located. Our team is confident that we will keep you at ease during this treatment. A variety of sedation services are available to make your experience more comfortable. If you would like to know more about our extraction process, give us a call!

Dentures

Crafted to mimic the appearance and function of natural teeth, traditional dentures provide a cost-effective option for restoring your smile. They sit on the gums and are secured in place with dental adhesives. They’re also removable, making cleaning and maintenance a breeze.

Once they’re in place, traditional dentures can significantly improve your chewing ability, speech clarity, and confidence.

Partials

Partials are removable dental appliances used to replace one or more missing teeth. They are custom-made to fit the patient’s mouth and are designed to blend in with natural teeth.

The procedure for getting partials involves taking impressions of the teeth and gums, which are then used to create a precise mold. Once the partials are ready, we adjust them for fit and comfort.

Partials help restore the function and appearance of your mouth, making it easier to chew and speak, while also preventing the remaining teeth from shifting out of place.

Fillings

Fillings are used to repair teeth that have been damaged by decay, cracks, or fractures. During the procedure, we remove the decayed portion of the tooth, clean the affected area, and then fill it with a dental material such as amalgam, composite resin, or porcelain.

Fillings restore the tooth’s shape and function, preventing further decay and strengthening the tooth structure. This helps maintain oral health and stop more serious dental issues, such as infections or the need for more extensive treatments like crowns or root canals.
